According to information provided by sources in the sector, the price of a liter of diesel will increase by 87 cents starting at midnight today.

There will be no price change for gasoline tonight.

WHAT WILL THE NEW PRICES BE?

With tonight’s rise, the price per liter of diesel will increase to approximately TL 24.78 in Istanbul, TL 25.23 in Ankara and TL 25.35 in Izmir.

Thus, after the second round of the elections held on May 28, an increase of 28 percent in diesel will be achieved.

The price of a liter of gasoline is approximately TL 26.19 in Istanbul, TL 26.64 in Ankara and TL 26.67 in Izmir.

Prices vary between provinces, districts and distributors.

On the other hand, starting tonight there will be a discount of 65 cents on the price of a liter of automotive gas (LPG).

ACCELERATED INCREASE AFTER THE ELECTIONS

Exchange rates, which were held close to the horizontal level by depleting CBRT reserves and borrowing from foreign countries before the elections, rose rapidly after the elections. Along with the dollar, fuel prices also rose.

The dollar exchange rate, which was at the level of 18.73 at the beginning of the year, had stood at TL 19.60 before the elections on May 14 and at TL 19.98 before the second round on May 28. of May. The exchange rate saw 26.11 TL today.

The rise of the dollar has exceeded 7 lira since the beginning of the year and 6.5 lira after the elections. The proportional increase in the dollar exchange rate exceeded 30 percent for the period after the second round of the elections and 40 percent since the beginning of the year.

The increase in the exchange rate is expected to cause an increase in official consumer inflation, which fell to 40 percent.
