Request to increase the rate of the minimum salary of independent accountants

The Turkish Union of Chambers of Certified Public Accountants and Certified Public Accountants (TÜRMOB) demanded that the minimum wages of professionals be increased by 35 percent for the sustainability of companies.

In his written statement, TÜRMOB President Emre Kartaloğlu stated that the salaries included in the minimum wage rate for independent accountants, certified public accountants and certified public accountants are quite insufficient considering the economic conditions.

‘MAKES THE PROVISION OF THE SERVICE IMPOSSIBLE’

Kartaloğlu stated that this situation makes the sustainability and service provision of accounting offices impossible.

Recalling that the 85 percent increase applied to the 2023 minimum wage rate is not enough, the Union Board of Directors recommended that wages in the rate be applied reflecting the difference as much as the revaluation rate (122 percent) to offset losses caused by inflation, Kartaloğlu said:

‘THREE THE SUSTAINABILITY OF COMPANIES’

“On June 20, 2023, the minimum wage was announced at 11,402 lira net with an increase of 34 percent.

Although the applicable minimum wage rate has already been published, well below our Union’s suggestions and expectations, the increase in labor costs, which is our main expense item, by 34 percent, has seriously threatened the sustainability of accounting businesses.

The vast majority of our professionals sign contracts based on the amounts of the minimum wage rate.

At the present time there have been extraordinary increases in all the expenses necessary for the continuation of the professional activity, and the increase in the 2023 rate has lost all its meaning with the latest increase in the minimum wage.

The minimum wage rate for public accountants, certified public accountants, and certified public accountants must be increased by 35 percent as of July 1, at least to offset the loss from the increase in the minimum wage.” (AA)
