Electricity production decreased 8.9 percent in April
According to the April “Electric Market Sector Report” of the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA), 33.1 percent of licensed electricity generation are hydroelectric plants, 16.5 percent are imported coal and 16.4 percent are natural gas power plants. 12.2 percent were carried out in lignite power plants and 10.7 percent in wind power plants.
These sources were followed by geothermal, biomass, solar, coal, asphaltite, and fuel oil, respectively.
Turkey’s licensed electricity production in April decreased by 8.9 percent compared to the same month a year earlier and became 22,541,786 megawatt-hours.
The amount of billed electricity consumption decreased 7.5 percent in the same period and amounted to 18 million 376 thousand 244 megawatt-hours.
42.5 percent of consumption was made by industry, 28.1 percent by residential, 24.9 percent by the sector of public and private services and other subscribers. The share of lighting was recorded at 2.3 percent and the share of agricultural activities at 2.2 percent.
INCREASE IN THE NUMBER OF CONSUMERS AND INSTALLED POWER
The number of consumers of electrical energy increased 2.8 percent in April compared to the same month of the previous year and reached 49 million 3 thousand 835.
In this period, the number of residential consumers increased by 4.1 percent and the number of agricultural activity consumers increased by 3.6 percent.
There was a decrease of 20.6 percent in the number of lighting consumers, 26 percent in the number of industrial consumers and 2.8 percent in the number of consumers in the public and private services sector and others.
In this period, Turkey’s licensed electricity installed capacity increased by 2.9 percent to 95,344 megawatts.
