Upload Intermediate Traffic to Accelerated Minimum Wage

The Commission for the Determination of the Minimum Wage, made up of representatives of workers, employers and the government, will hold its second meeting tomorrow as part of the work to determine the rate of interim increase to the minimum wage. At the meeting, where current economic data will be discussed, the parties will negotiate the provisional price increase.

The process continues regarding the new figure for the minimum wage, which directly affects more than 7 million employees and indirectly affects the entire society.

The commission, which held its first meeting on June 13, sponsored by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, will hold its second meeting tomorrow at 10:00 am.

At the meeting, where representatives of the Treasury, Finance and Trade ministries and the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) will present economic data and reports, the parties will negotiate the provisional price hike.

On the other hand, after the commission meeting, the Minister of Labor and Social Security, Vedat Işıkhan, the President of TÜRK-İŞ, Ergün Atalay, and the President of the Turkish Employers’ Union Confederation (TİSK), Özgür Burak Akkol, will meet at 2:00 p.m.

EMPLOYER SAYS ‘BALANCE’, EMPLOYEE CONDITIONS OF THE DAY

During the remaining period, both the employer and the employee expressed their opinions and expectations in front of the public, although they have not yet commented on the figures.

In his earlier statement, TİSK board chairman Akkol stated that they wanted negotiations to be completed quickly and with a tripartite agreement, saying, “We want a sustainable but balanced amount that does not disrupt employment, and that has into account the expectations of both the employee and the employer. We are in Türkiye, we will speak TL”.

Speaking on behalf of the TÜRK-İŞ delegation, Veli Solak, president of the Turkish union Haber-İş, said: “We want the minimum wage to be updated according to the conditions of the day, according to the current economic crisis, according to with house rents and cost of living”.

CURRENT MINIMUM WAGE 8 thousand 506 TL

The minimum wage is applied as a monthly gross income of 10,08 lira per worker, and 8,506 lira and 80 kuruş net when taxes and deductions are deducted.

The total cost of the minimum wage for the employer is 11,759 liras and 40 cents per worker. 10 thousand 8 liras of this is the gross minimum wage, 1551 liras 24 cents of social security premium, 200 liras 16 cents of the employer’s unemployment insurance fund.

THE FORGOTTEN $500 PLEDGE AFTER THE ELECTION

It is striking that the authorities, who made statements about the minimum wage after the elections, did not make any statement regarding the $500 announced before the elections.

Vedat Bilgin, who was Minister of Labor and Social Security before the new cabinet, said in a television program in which he participated: “We will regulate the minimum wage in July in a way that protects real purchasing power. In January we made a deal that took it to the highest level of more than $455 in dollars in the history of the Republic. We will do the same in July. It will be a fee of approximately 500 dollars. Our work is done, ”he said.

Official statements that the minimum wage will rise to the $500 level with the July interim increase were muted by the sharp rise in the post-election exchange rate. Despite Bilgin’s statement “Our work is done,” none of the officials mentioned $500 after the election.

Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, on the other hand, made a statement about the minimum wage on the TV show he participated in: “The dollar does not stand still, it changes every day. We have to talk TL,” he said. (SÖZCÜ-AA)
