Producer inflation in agriculture fell to 50.79 percent in May

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) announced the producer price index for agricultural products for May 2023.

Thus, in May 2023 the PPI-agricultural increased 2.14 percent compared to the previous month, increased 20.24 percent compared to December of the previous year, increased 50.79 percent compared to the same month of the previous year and increased by twelve months. Compared to the averages, there was an increase of 120.64 percent.

Compared to the previous month, there was a 1.22 percent increase in forestry products and related services, a 2.01 percent increase in agricultural and hunting products and related services, and an 8.95 percent increase in fish and other fishery products.

Compared with the previous month, perennial plant products decreased by 6.72%, livestock and animal products increased by 2.51%, and annual plant products increased by 5.82% in the main groups.

THE GREATEST INCREASE IS IN FAT FRUITS WITH 130 PERCENT

The subgroups with low annual increase were fibrous plants with 0.87 percent, vegetables with 39.57 percent, and roots and tubers of melon-watermelon, respectively.

On the other hand, the subgroups with the highest annual increase were oleaginous fruits with 129.64 percent and rice with 115.00 percent, respectively.

The subgroups that decreased compared to the previous month were live birds and eggs with 7.68 percent and other farm animals and animal products with 0.08 percent, respectively.

On the other hand, the subgroups with the highest monthly increase were the fruits of other trees and shrubs with 18.67 percent and the fruits with hard shells and fibrous plants with 10.91 percent.

In May 2023, of 82 items included in the index, the average price of 24 items decreased and the average price of 50 items increased.
