There is no vehicle in the dealership, there is a hit in the gallery.

There is no vehicle in the dealership, there is a hit in the gallery.

Automotive The zero vehicle crisis in the industry is growing. While you can’t find new vehicles at dealerships for about 1 year, citizens pay a down payment and stand in line for anywhere from 3 months to 1 year. However, the same new vehicles are sold at exorbitant prices in the galleries. For example, a vehicle that costs TL 1,150,000 on a brand’s website can be sold at a dealership for TL 1.5 million. As a result, used car prices rise. Industry representatives affirm that, in addition to the difficulties in supplying vehicles from factories, some dealers have boosted the market by transferring vehicles to wholesale galleries.

Although the CEOs of some of the leading brands in the industry express discomfort with this situation, the problem cannot be avoided. An industry representative who spoke to SÖZCÜ said that at least half of the vehicles sold on the market were bought for investment purposes. Noting that citizens invest in vehicles to protect the money in their pockets, the sector representative emphasized that it is difficult to improve this situation without controlling currencies and inflation.

GOING TO THE SECOND HAND

While new car prices start around 450k-500k TL, those who can’t find a car at these prices have to go to the dealerships. Due to the fact that the same vehicle sells for around 700,000 TL there, citizens are forced to resort to second-hand vehicles. Citizens whose income does not increase in the face of rapidly increasing inflation are stuck with vehicles that are older and have high mileage.

Penalty but no use

Dealers are fined for fees charged above new vehicle dealer list prices. However, the suffering of citizens continues. Vehicles are sold with top equipment packages and accessories. However, industry representatives claim that the ships are late and that the arriving vehicles are mostly equipped with superior equipment. The gallery owner SÖZCÜ spoke to said they had to keep their prices high so the money they invested in new vehicles wouldn’t be wiped out by inflation.
