Giant deviation in Zafer

The Zafer airport, which has been on the agenda with the number of passenger guarantees that it has not met since the day it opened, and constantly damaging the treasury, came back to the fore in 2023 with losses.

For the first 4 months of this year, only 17,785 passengers used the airport, of which 439,244 passengers were guaranteed. The deviation in the passenger estimate was 96 percent.

The total number of airport passenger guarantees in 2023 is 1,317,733 and it seems impossible to reach this figure until the end of the year.

96 PERCENT DEVIATION IN PASSENGER FORECAST

According to data announced by the State Airports Authority, 4,083 passengers used the Zafer Airport in January 2023, 3,825 passengers in February, 5,167 passengers in March, and 4,710 passengers in April.

In January-April, the number of international passengers who used the airport, where a total of 17,785 passengers arrived, was 6,545, and the number of domestic passengers was 11,240.

According to the Zafer airport contract, 2 euros are guaranteed for domestic departure passenger service and 10 euros for international departure passenger service.

TO BE TRANSFERRED TO THE PUBLIC IN 2044

The number of guaranteed passengers increased year by year in the airport contract, where 850 thousand passengers were guaranteed in the year of its opening.

As of the tenth year, the airport’s annual guarantee has increased to 1 million 317 thousand 733 passengers.

The construction cost of the Zafer airport was 50 million euros.

The payment of guarantees made to the company in 2012-2022 amounts to 59 million 676 euros.

The airport will be handed over to the public in 2044.

The guarantee payment to be paid to the company until this date will be 208 million euros.
