Decision on unpaid bills in the disaster area

Charges will not be charged for unpaid consumption of electricity and natural gas subscribers whose homes or workplaces have suffered severe or moderate damage in places considered as catastrophic zones by the state of emergency (OHAL).

According to the statement from the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources published in the Official Gazette today, the last invoice accrued and not collected before February 6, and the unpaid consumption invoices from previous periods, if any, to this date, the invoices related to consumption not accrued on that date, and the invoices for additional consumption.

In this context, according to the information of the state of damages obtained from the corresponding ministries on the assigned natural gas supply and distribution companies and organized industrial zones, homes or workplaces, consumption expenditures will determine the places of consumption that will be included in the scope of the cancellation.

SUBSCRIPTION AGREEMENTS CANCELED, INSURANCE FEES WILL BE REFUNDED

The subscription contracts of consumers who supply electricity from the supply company in charge of regulated rates and natural gas from the natural gas distribution company, will be extinguished or terminated as of February 6 due to force majeure.

Companies may not request the cancellation of the security fees that they have received under the terminated or terminated contracts, and said security fees will be returned to the consumer or their heirs within the framework of the provisions of the corresponding legislation, without being subject to to liquidation.

The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources will make the deductible payments to the companies within 3 business days following the review of the documents submitted to the Energy Market Regulatory Board (EMRA) by the supplying and distributing companies.

After the payment of the debts subject to cancellation, the companies will notify the corresponding consumers or their heirs within 3 business days that the debts of the past period have been paid from the ministry’s budget. (Reuters)
