‘Low price’ action by apricot growers in Mersin

In the Mut district of Mersin, apricot growers declared low prices and dumped their produce on the Mut-Karaman road and took action. The road, which was closed to traffic for 3 hours, was reopened after the district governor, İhsan Ayrancı, calmed down the group.

Claiming that the prices of apricots have dropped to 5 lira, the producers closed the Mut-Karaman highway to traffic, through which they arrived with tractors and vans.

The manufacturers, who put their products into circulation, argued that 5 lire did not cover the cost. Mut District Governor İhsan Ayrancı came to the region and tried to calm down the farmers.

Stating that manufacturers will try to solve their problems, Ayrancı said: “The permanent solution to this is to remove the marketing problem. Let’s work together to solve the problem together, ”he said. After Ayrancı’s speech, the group calmed down and dispersed. (DHA)
