Of all European airports, those in Portugal, Croatia and Luxembourg are the best, while those in Germany, Slovakia and Slovenia lag behind. Total passenger numbers increased 49% year-on-year in the first quarter of this year, but there was a slowdown in March.
The figures for Schiphol are less rosy. According to ACI, there were more than 20% fewer passengers at Amsterdam airport than in the first quarter of last year. The total number of passengers is still 10.6% below the level of the first quarter of 2019.
ACI also distinguishes between international flights and domestic flights. For example, the recovery in passenger numbers on domestic flights appears to be lagging behind, while international flights are doing better. According to the ACI, this would indicate, among other things, a different consumer behaviour.
