Raw milk production decreased in 2022, red meat production increased
The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) today announced the Raw Milk Production Statistics and Red Meat Production Statistics for 2022.
According to TUIK data, red meat production increased 12.3 percent in 2022 and reached 2,191,625 tons. Raw milk production decreased 7.1 percent to 21,563,492 tons.
RED MEAT PRODUCTION INCREASED
Consequently, the production of red meat, which was 1,952,038 tons in 2021, was estimated at 2,191,625 tons, increasing 12.3% in 2022.
In this context, beef production increased 7.7 percent compared to the previous year to 1,572,747 tons, sheep meat production increased 26.8 percent to 489,354 tons, goat meat production Buffalo meat production increased 22.6 percent to 115,938 tons. Meat production, for its part, increased 25.4 percent and reached 13,586 tons.
In 2022, 71.8% of red meat production was beef, 22.3% sheep meat, 5.3% goat meat and 0.6% buffalo meat.
RAW MILK PRODUCTION DECREASED 7.1 PERCENT IN 2022
TurkStat also announced raw milk production statistics obtained from the Farm Animal Production Survey since 2020.
Consequently, the raw milk production forecast, which was 23 million 200 thousand 306 tons in 2021, decreased 7.1 percent in 2022 and went to 21 million 563 thousand 492 tons. Compared to the previous year, buffalo milk production decreased by 31.5%, goat milk production by 13.2%, cow milk production by 6.8% and sheep milk production 6.7%.
Cow’s milk accounted for 92.3%, sheep’s milk 4.9%, goat’s milk 2.5% and buffalo’s milk 0.2% of raw milk production in 2022.
