US jobless claims exceed expectations
The number of first-time claims for US jobless benefits rose to 242,000 in the week ending April 29, beating expectations.
The US Department of Labor has released data on weekly jobless claims.
Thus, the number of people who claimed unemployment benefits for the first time in the country rose to 242,000 in the week of April 29, an increase of 13,000 compared to the previous week.
3 thousand 500 people increased in a week
Claims for jobless benefits, which were above market expectations, were expected to be made at the 240,000 level in this period.
The data from the previous week for applications for unemployment benefits was revised from 230,000 to 229,000.
As of last week, 4-week average jobless claims increased by 3,500 people from the previous week to 239,250.
Ongoing jobless claims fell to 1,805,000 with a decrease of 38,000 in the week ending April 22. (AA)
