Upload upset, complaints explode
The citizens, who rebelled against the high electricity and natural gas bills and the increase in fuel prices, complained to the State. The number of complaints filed with the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) for considering that the electricity bill was excessively high in 2022 multiplied by more than 4 compared to the previous year.
THE BIGGEST COMPLAINT IS THE ELECTRICITY
Complaints alleging that the use of natural gas was incorrectly billed and fuel prices increased excessively by more than 4 times. In 2022, only complaints about LPG increases decreased. The total number of complaints made in one year for increases in electricity, natural gas, fuel and LPG broke a record by exceeding the level of 200,000 for the first time.
The 2022 annual report published by EMRA revealed that citizens, unable to cope with last year’s price hikes, complained to the state. According to the report, in 2022, 151,943 electricity complaints were filed with the EMRA. Although electricity complaints increased by 52 percent compared to the previous year, the majority of complaints were about excessive electricity bills. The number of objections to high electricity bills increased 321 percent (4.2 times) in one year, from 8,724 to 36,770.
Complaints about natural gas also increased 106 percent in one year, jumping from 22,000 to 45,000. Last year, EMRA claims increased 313 percent (4.1 times) as natural gas consumption was incorrectly billed by private companies and high payments were made. Complaints for connections and natural gas service lines increased from 11,000 to 16,000.
