THE PERFORMANCE OF EXPORTS IS NOT AT THE DESIRED POINT

TÜRKESD Board Chairman Gökhan Sığın stated that global inflation had an impact on the decline in exports.

In his statement, Sığın stated that the performance in the field of exports was not at the desired level due to global economic developments, and gave the following statements:

“As of March 2023, our domestic appliance sales increased 6 percent across six major product groups compared to March of the prior year. Our exports, on the other hand, contracted by 15 percent in the same period due to ongoing global inflation. This resulted in a 10 percent decrease in our total sales, which consist of exports and domestic sales, compared to the same period of the prior year. Furthermore, our total production across six major product groups as a sector in March was 3,106,484.

When we look at the first three months of the year, there was 10 percent growth in domestic sales across six main products, as well as a 14 percent contraction in exports. On the other hand, although there was a contraction in the number of production, we saw that it was carried out at a lower rate. A total of 8,342,814 units were produced in the first quarter in six main products with a decrease of 2 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, while our total sales, including exports, were 7,978,114 units. .
