Increases quota in tomato exports to Russia
The deputy president of the Coordination of the Aegean Exporters Associations (EIB), Hayrettin Ucak, stated that the quota for tomato exports to Russia was increased from 350,000 tons to 500,000 tons, and they expect tomato exports to Russia will recover after this decision.
Aircraft, who also serves as president of the Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters Association, said in a statement that the quota for tomato exports to Russia was increased from 350,000 tons to 500,000 tons after the last meeting. between President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. and President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.
Noting that fresh tomato exports totaling 377 million dollars were made last year, Uçar stated that the 150,000-ton increase in the quota strongly paved the way for tomato exports to Russia.
‘WE HAVE LOSS OF ENERGY’
Stating that Turkey has been the leading country in tomato exports in Russia for many years, and that they have lost power in this market due to quota problems in recent years, Uçar gave the following statements in his statement:
“Our fresh tomato exports to Russia, which were 68 million dollars in 2021, dropped to 33 million dollars in 2022. Following the latest decision, we hope that our tomato exports to Russia will recover and that this country will return to be a leader in exports.
We anticipate that the total exports will reach 500 million USD by the end of 2023. We would like to thank our president, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, for the decision that paved the way for the sector. We hope that this decision is auspicious for our producers and exporters”. (AA)
