Bosch to buy US chipmaker TSI Semiconductors
German engineering company Bosch has announced it will buy US-based chipmaker TSI Semiconductors and invest $1.5 billion to increase production of silicon carbide chips.
In the statement issued by the company, it was reported that Bosch plans to buy the assets of US chipmaker TSI Semiconductors, based in Roseville, California.
In the statement, it was noted that Bosch plans to invest more than $1.5 billion in TSI Semiconductors’ Roseville facility and transform TSI Semiconductors’ state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities in the coming years.
PRODUCTION IN 2026
In the statement that production will begin in 2026, it was indicated that Bosch will expand its semiconductor business with silicon carbide chips.
Emphasizing that Bosch is systematically strengthening its semiconductor business, it was stated that by the end of 2030, it will significantly expand its global portfolio of silicon carbide chips.
In the statement, it was indicated that the planned investment will benefit from federal funding opportunities and state incentives under the CHIPS Act, signed into law by US President Joe Biden on August 9, 2022, to increase the production of semiconductors. (AA)
