Hail hit citrus, grower is worried

CHP Adana MP and candidate Burhanettin Bulut met Adana Provincial Vice President Cahit İncefikir in Adana’s Seyhan district, along with hail-damaged citrus, stone fruit and corn farmers. Hearing the growers’ problems, Bulut said, “A few days ago, he noticed that the fruits were damaged by hail. Bulut said: “Where we are now is where the apricot trees are. There are peach trees just ahead and citrus trees just ahead. Unfortunately, however, the hail that fell did not leave any fruit on the tree. He let them all down. The peach in my hand is damaged all over. Almost a third of the apricots are damaged. In other words, this is the state of those products that remain on the tree and those that do not remain on the ground. The manufacturer continues to ask for support. The support requested by the manufacturer is actually very simple. Insurance damage coverage. However, TARSİM is far from meeting both the seasonal situation and the grower’s needs.”

WE CANNOT MAKE ANY INCOME

The grower also claimed that almost all of the products on the tree were damaged by the hail, saying, “None of these fruits are edible. We can’t get any income because it’s damaged. All of these will be cleaned up and thrown out of the garden,” he said.

NOT COVERED BY FULL INSURANCE

CHP’s bulut, “Will the state pay for the damage? To the question, “The damage is not covered because it is a natural disaster. The hail must be covered by natural disasters and our expense must be given. The trees were damaged not only this year, but also next year. Because the fruit eyes did not form due to rain. The fruit eyes that will form next year have also deteriorated due to natural disasters. We hope for support from our state,” he replied. .

EXTRA COST DEPARTURE

Noting that the harvest will be low next year, the grower said: “The branches of the fruit have not formed yet. The branches to form were also damaged. That is why the losses this year and next will double and triple. If we don’t look at the tree, the tree won’t look at us. Our expenses have doubled. It cost us more, ”he replied. At least if our expenses are covered, at least we can get the trees back a bit next quarter. Our costs are reduced. “We have loans to pay,” he said.

OUR COSTS HAVE INCREASED MORE

The corn farmer complained to Bulut, who was also examining the hail-hit cornfield, as follows: “The hail damaged our product a lot. To cure the plant we will have to use foliar fertilizers, fungicides and drugs against all diseases. These were not needed before the hail hit. We will try our best to improve the product after it is hit, if we can. After the hail, both revenues decreased and costs to be incurred increased. The corn will dry up because it will be unproductive before harvest.”

WE ARE WAITING FOR SUPPORT

Corn farmer, CHP’s Bulut, “Will he make money on the product?” He responded to the question: “This is not possible with an expensive price. We expect support from the state. The authorities have not yet come to investigate. Last year, I was damaged by an agricultural frost, and this year there was hail. After this disaster, I estimate that at least 40% of the performance will drop. Both costs will increase and productivity will decrease. It is not possible for us to get the reward of our work, ”he replied.
