The purchasing power of hamburgers of the minimum wage earner decreased from 114 to 62 in 5 years.
The price of the Big Mac, which is used to measure inflation in McDonald’s countries around the world, has been adapted for Turkey.
CHP Istanbul MP Gürsel Tekin compared today’s burger prices to those of 2018, when Erdoğan was elected president.
Whereas a Big Mac menu consisting of a hamburger, fries and a coke cost 13.95 TL in 2018, it has risen to 135 TL today.
Tekin said: “When Erdoğan was elected president, the Big Mac menu cost 13.95 lira. In 5 years, he officially added a zero to money, the price of everything doubled. Türkiye grows poorer and weaker every day that Erdogan remains in the chair. Erdogan means poverty, he means misery. It’s very clear,” he said.
