‘AKP turned off the light of the country’

‘AKP turned off the light of the country’

Responding to a parliamentary question from CHP Niğde MP Ömer Fethi Gürer, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Fatih Dönmez announced that electricity was cut off last year for 274,809 subscribers due to their debt. Minister Dönmez indicated that the number of subscribers whose subscriptions were canceled for not paying their debts was 120,869. Gürer claimed that the wrong economic programs implemented during the AKP rule were inflicted on citizens in all fields, saying, “They also turned off the country’s light.”

CHP’s Gürer, in his written question addressed to the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, drew attention to complaints caused by electricity tariffs, which increased prices above official inflation rates. Gürer told Dönmez: “While the figures we see on our electricity bills should be the sum of the costs of generation, transmission and distribution activities and the statutory profit margins, why aren’t these taken into account? Criteria for raises? As of October 2022, the annual inflation rate is 84.3% according to TUIK, 103% according to the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, and 170% according to the Inflation Research Group. However, what are the reasons not to intervene in the fact that the average rate of increase of electricity is above even the highest inflation estimate? What is the number of subscribers whose electricity was cut off or canceled due to debt in 2022? he asked him.

In response to the proposal, Minister Dönmez stated that all costs related to tariff related activities must be taken into account in determining the retail electricity tariff and emphasized that there are increases/decreases in retail tariffs as a natural consequence of increases/decreases in these costs.

THE FINANCIAL INCREASE IS NOT FULLY REFLECTED

Pointing out that the reflection of cost increases to electricity rates is limited, the Minister announced that the number of subscribers whose power was cut off due to non-payment of the debt at the end of the period in 2022 was 274,809.

0.24 PERCENT NOT SUBSCRIBED

Minister Dönmez pointed out that the number of subscribers whose subscriptions were canceled due to non-payment in the same period was 120,869, and called attention to the fact that this figure corresponds to 0.24 percent of the total number of subscribers.

THE LANCE DOESN’T FIT IN THE BAG ANYMORE

Gürer claimed that the wrong economic programs implemented during the AKP rule were inflicted on citizens in all fields, saying, “They also turned off the country’s light.” Recalling that due to the economic crisis, the aggrieved citizen was unable to pay bills, tried to stay afloat with bank loans, and foreclosure files exceeded 23 million, Gürer said: “The balance of income and expenditure between citizens has become has deteriorated. While low and fixed income incomes remained intact, prices rose in everything from food to energy. It was the app that he had difficulty paying for. They cut off his electricity because of his debts. In some improvements made for the sake of voting before the election, the spear is no longer useful because it does not fit in the bag. The end of this exit with the vote of the people on May 14 will be the beginning of the solution of the existing problems, ”he said.
