The cost of getting married has doubled in the last year
Getting married is more expensive now. Compared to last year, the price of wedding venues has almost doubled.
The country wedding venue, which had a low of 40,000 lira in the previous season, reached 89,000 lira this year, while the wedding hall was 20,000 lira, 30,000 lira, and the average price per person in luxury hotels increased from 70 Euros to 140 Euros.
With the end of Ramadan, the wedding season will open. After many details such as the dowry, the white line, the furniture, the wedding dress and the groom’s suit, bad news came from the owners of the premises for the couples who wanted to receive their guests with the organization of the wedding.
Prices at places like country weddings, wedding halls and hotels are up nearly 100 percent compared to last year. Those who want to have a cocktail wedding have to sacrifice 30,000 lira in the halls and a minimum of 70,000 lira in country wedding venues.
The cost of a wedding with dinner for 200 people is 80 thousand liras in a wedding hall, a minimum of 140 thousand liras in rural weddings and a minimum of 180 euros per person in hotels. Business owners, on the other hand, show cost increases by causing price increases.
THE COUPLES ARE GOING TO WEDD
Wedding hall manager Ruhan Gündüz had the following to say in his assessment on the subject:
“Our costs have increased a lot compared to previous years. While the products we buy from vendors are up 300 percent, we as a hair salon are still up 50 percent. This began to reduce the business potential of salon owners.
Our couples have no purchasing power. Electricity and energy expenses, one of the biggest problems for all salon owners, is the increase in rents. When we ask for 30-35 thousand lira for the wedding halls, no one does the wedding and goes to the wedding halls.
When we touched the salon prices a bit, we became unable to do business. The prices of our wedding hall are changing this year. It starts from 30 thousand lira, varies depending on the number of guests and the day. 25 thousand lire from Monday to Friday, 45-50-60 on weekends, depending on the room. The cost of a wedding with dinner is not less than 400-500 thousand lire.
A wedding with a dinner for 200 people will cost around 80 thousand on average, when we add the hall and the camera, it will reach 100 thousand liras. There is a 20% difference between summer and winter. Wedding seasons began to shift from summer to winter.”
PRICE DIFFERENCE VS VIEW 30 EUROS PER PERSON
Elif Kuş, a sales manager at a luxury hotel in Beyoğlu, said, “There is a price increase on many things due to the price increase, as well as the wedding. We had a 100% increase in prices compared to last year,” he said.
Noting that prices start at 140 euros on average, Kuş said: “There is no end to the organization of weddings. It changes according to the wishes of the guests. The figures change as decorators, music, photography and camera companies are added. They can finish 140 euros with 180 euros and 1000 euros. It totally depends on the wishes of the couple. Against the view, the prices per person increase by 20-30 euros.”
SATURDAY’S MOST VALUABLE NIGHT
Ahmet Şahin, manager of a rural wedding venue in Sarıyer, explained the costs in these words:
“The couples of this season began to occupy the places of last season. Prices start from 28 thousand lira and go up to 90 thousand lira. If the number of people increases, the price increases, if there is food, the price varies between 140 and 200 thousand liras.
Installation, system, everything belongs to us. 28 thousand lire in the evenings and cocktails from Monday to Friday. Most Valuable Night happens on Saturday nights. On Saturday night the cost is 70k with cocktails, an additional 40k with food. It would be 110 thousand lire.
We couldn’t raise much between last year and this year because people couldn’t afford those prices. Last year we bought a box of napkins for 70 liras, now we buy them for 200 liras. We give a program worth 40 thousand liras to 89 thousand liras. Compared to last year, the market is more stagnant.” (DHA)
