Prices would remain fixed after the earthquake: rise of 20 percent
Construction materials were also affected by rising prices after the earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş.
Speaking to Sozcu.com.tr, the vice president of the Chamber of Civil Engineers (IMO), Nusret Suna, said that concrete and cement prices increased after the earthquake.
According to information provided by Tahir Tellioğlu, president of the Confederation of Construction Contractors (İMKON), to sozcu.com.tr, there was a 20 percent increase in urgent materials and cement.
Tellioğlu stated that the ton of cement increased up to 1750 TL and said: “Concrete prices have increased at similar rates depending on the cement. Labor costs have also increased by 50 percent due to the ‘master crisis’ in the industry.

In the meeting of the Ministry of Commerce with the representatives of the sector after the earthquake, a warning was issued not to make an increase in basic construction materials.
Making a statement at the end of February, the president of the Turkish Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges (TOBB), Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, said: “As long as there is no increase in input costs, commodity prices of construction materials are fixed in 11 provinces affected by the earthquake.”

Tellioğlu explained that there were no significant increases in the prices of other construction materials due to this warning, saying: “Cement prices, which increased by 20 percent, remained stable after the ministry’s meeting with the sector and there were no a new increase. . The downward movements in commodity prices also supported this.
