With a few days to go before May 14, the electoral declarations were announced. The promises in the 2023 election manifesto announced by AKP Chairman Tayyip Erdoğan made people say: “As if the AKP has not ruled Turkey for 21 years.” With promising solutions to problems in almost all areas of Turkey, which have deepened due to the policies of the AKP government, Erdogan has included many innovations that CHP leader and presidential candidate Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has long raised.

GUARANTEE OF WHAT YOU WILL DO

However, due to the economic policies of the 21-year AKP government, which promised to reduce inflation to single digits again, the 24-year inflation record was broken. Under the AKP rule, which aims to create 6 million new jobs in 5 years and reduce the unemployment rate to 7 percent, real unemployment reached 9 million. The AKP, which promised to increase the salaries of civil servants, retirees and workers above inflation, did not increase salaries in inflation rates and gave a bonus of TL 2000 to retirees, without even increasing the lowest pension to the minimum salary. The system of public recruitment interviews, which Erdoğan promised to abolish for the vote application, was introduced by the AKP in 2016. Expressing that newly married couples will receive an interest-free marriage loan of 150,000 lira with a maturity of 48 months with a 2-year grace period, during Erdogan’s rule, the cost increased, the TL suffered a huge loss in value, and its purchasing power fell. Erdoğan and Kılıçdaroğlu’s promises reveal the image of “What kind of Turkey after the elections”.

Erdogan’s promises:

Elimination of the tax burden on computers and mobile phones.

10 gigabytes (GB) of youth internet support.

Elimination of interview in public oppositions.

Marriage loan for newlyweds.

Housing reimbursed to earthquake victims.

A super fast train will be built between Ankara and Istanbul.

One person in each family will have a job opportunity.

2,000 TL vacation bonus for retirees.

The minimum wage will be increased by a provisional increase in July.

Kılıçdaroğlu’s promises:

Fixing inflation in 2 years, at least 5 million new job opportunities in 5 years.

Bonus of 15 thousand TL for retirees in the Feast of the Sacrifice.

The Special Consumption Tax (SCT) will not be charged on the purchase of the first car.

Insurance premium support for women and youth working in rural areas.

Family support insurance.

Assignment of 100,000 teachers per year.

Free milk, water and lunch for students.

The tax and insurance burden on the shoulders of workers will be reduced.

Free housing for earthquake victims.
