FIRST HARVEST OF THE YEAR
Agronomist Deniz Gürbüz stated that despite the winter conditions that Turkey is still under the influence of, even though it is April, they are still harvesting their first grapes. We are currently harvesting the grape, which we call summer fruit, for the first time in Turkey. Due to the microclimate characteristics of our region, Mersin and Silifke, this is an early fruit paradise.”
Stating that the more the first fruit is harvested in the greenhouses, the more export points there will be in Mersin, Gürbüz said: “We are harvesting not only grapes, but also apricots, plums, peaches, nectarines. At the moment, both the producer and our country are winning at very good prices. Because these products bring foreign currency to our country both in the domestic market and in exports. In the greenhouse we are in now, drugs and hormones are not used. Since it is grown in its most natural form, the product is exported. Because no residue is required in the exported product. Even butterflies flew comfortably in this greenhouse, which shows how natural and sweet the fruit is.” (DHA)
