Changes in the names and duties of some departments in TURKSTAT
The names and functions of some departments within the Turkish Statistical Institute of Turkey (TUIK) body were changed.
The “Regulations Amending the Regulations on the Establishment, Duties and Authorities of the Service Units of the Presidency of the Turkish Statistical Institute”, drawn up by the Authority, came into force after publication in the Official Gazette .
Consequently, while the Department of Education, one of the service units of the central organization, was closed, the name of the “Department of Labor Force and Living Conditions” was changed to “Department of Labor Force Statistics”. The name of the “International Relations Department” was changed to “Foreign Relations Department”.
PRICE STATISTICS DEPARTMENT
With the fix, new tasks were defined for some units, while task changes were made for others.
In this context, the Price Statistics Department will produce statistics and indicators, calculate indices and compile household consumption expenditure statistics to monitor consumer price movements.
The Department of Labor Force Statistics will produce household labor force statistics. In addition, this unit will produce statistics and indices related to employment, labor costs, income and salary structure, and will monitor and apply international standards and methodological developments in its field of work.
Said unit will also carry out studies of national and international projects in the areas of its competence.
DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURAL STATISTICS
The Short-term Business Statistics Department will also produce statistics, indicators, and will calculate indices to monitor producer price movements.
The Department of Metadata and Classification Systems will define and implement standards in the creation of national registration systems and will ensure their implementation with inter-institutional coordination.
The Department of Sectoral Statistics will produce statistics on the energy, transport and communications sectors, as well as data on building and housing.
The Agricultural Statistics Department will calculate indices by producing statistics and indicators to monitor agricultural price movements.
The Department of Social Statistics will also produce statistics on income distribution, poverty and living conditions. (AA)
