EU countries will share criminal account information
The European Council has announced that it has determined the common position of the member states regarding the negotiations to be held with the European Parliament (EP) on the legal regulation in the fight against the financing of crime.
Consequently, access to financial information in investigations, the monitoring of the proceeds of crime and the confiscation process will be increased.
In this framework, a central system will be established that will allow easier access by the authorities of the EU countries to the financial information of those with a connection to crime.
SHARE FROM A CENTER
EU countries will share information from central bank account records with each other through a single access point.
The central bank’s account registration system will contain various data, including who has an account in which country and bank.
Competent authorities in Member States dealing with crimes will be able to easily access these bank records through a single access point.
In addition, financial institutions will harmonize bank statements that they will share as part of an investigation.
In this way, the fight of the member countries against money laundering will be increased.
After this stage, the regulation will take its final form through negotiation between the member states and the European Parliament (EP). (AA)
