Agricultural land is sold by parcels.

Agricultural land is sold by parcels.

In addition to granting citizenship to foreigners in exchange for the sale of homes in Turkey, our land sales to foreigners increased by facilitating opportunities such as land sales and business establishments to foreigners.

According to data from the General Directorate of Property Registration and Cadastre, between January 2010 and July 2020, sales, etc. by natural persons. While 11,595 units and 21,284,892 square meters of main properties were acquired through roads, it was announced that only in 2022 5,219,309 square meters were sold.

5.2 MILLION SQUARE METERS OF LAND WILL BE SOLD TO FOREIGNERS IN 2022

In response to the question of CHP Niğde deputy Ömer Fethi Gürer about the sale of agricultural land to foreigners, Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum announced that in 2022 alone, 5 million 219 thousand were sold 309 square meters of agricultural land to foreigners in Turkey. .

It was reported that 765 foreigners bought agricultural land, including fields, vineyards and gardens.

Jordan was the first to buy agricultural real estate, Palestine was second, Israel was third, Saudi Arabia was fourth and Qatar was fifth.

JORDANS MAKES THE MOST OF IT

According to the list shared by the Ministerial Institution, the square meters of the land sold were the following:

Jordan: 984 thousand 611 square meters,

Palestine: 656 thousand 962 square meters,

Israel: 519 thousand 158 square meters,

Saudi Arabia: 385 thousand 955 square meters,

Qatar: 379 thousand 519 square meters,

Yemen: 280 thousand 744 square meters,

Egypt: 245 thousand 318 square meters,

Lebanon: 231 thousand 659 square meters,

USA: 196 thousand 8 square meters,

Iraq: 195 thousand 734 square meters

MOST OF THE LAND WAS BOUGHT FROM KONYA

In 2022, most of the agricultural land was sold to foreigners in Konya. Konya was followed by Istanbul. The classification was as follows: Konya, Istanbul, Bilecik, Manisa, Sakarya, Kırklareli, Eskişehir, Denizli, Bursa, Kocaeli.

Noting that the amount of agricultural land sold in a year is more than 5 million square meters, Gürer said, “If it continues like this, it seems that most of our agricultural land will be bought by foreigners over the years.”

Noting that the nationalities of those who buy agricultural land are mostly Arab countries, Gürer said: “The number of foreigners engaged in agriculture in our country is increasing. The amount of agricultural land they acquire increases every year.”

‘WE’RE GOING TO VENEZUELA, WE’RE LOOKING AHEAD’

Gürer also recalled that during the AKP rule, attempts at agriculture were made in Sudan, Niger and Venezuela.

We have a proverb, Gürer, “A bird in the hand is better than two in the wings.” Our country’s agricultural land is bought by foreign countries. If you pay attention, countries that are considered close are interested in our agricultural land. Although our country’s land is an area of interest to foreigners in agriculture, if Turkey had developed the country’s agriculture and finished GAP instead of engaging in agriculture in faraway countries, our problems in agriculture would have decreased, but he fell in love with the pursuit of agriculture in different geographies.

“With the agreement signed with the Sudanese country on April 28, 2014 and the legal procedure completed on November 19, 2015, it was announced that although the Turkish Sudan International Agriculture and Livestock Corporation was established for a total of 793 thousand hectares of agricultural land land, no investment could be made due to the management events in Sudan,” said Gürer. , continued:

“Although the government has not done anything on this issue for 9 years, the company has made a serious effort, including its expenses. It was not enough, the love for agriculture fell to Niger. In this sense, not enough progress has been made. The last Minister Kirişçi made statements and initiatives for agriculture in Venezuela.

According to the proposal formed by the meeting between the presidents, it was agreed to make agricultural investments in the region reserved for Turkey in Venezuela and called ‘Turkish Land’ and leave 70% of the income to the investor and the remaining 30% to Venezuela. However, our country is one of the rare countries with more than 12,000 plant species, of which 3,649 are endemic.”

21 AVAILABLE PRODUCTS

“While our country continues to look abroad for agriculture, neighboring countries are also acquiring land from our country. We have a supply gap in 21 products. There is a farm management approach that follows the bird on the branch while the bird in the hand flees. In essence, we must prioritize the protection of the bird in the hand,” said Gürer, continuing as follows:

“Instead of making our own farmer become a ‘marabá’ on our own land, we must fight for the peasants to become the owners of the nation. We must develop agriculture with the farmers and producers of our country on the country’s land.

It should also be noted that the Konya grain warehouse is an area of interest for different countries.

The top ten cities where foreigners buy land are the ones with the most fertile land in our country. In agriculture, while the bird in the hand is about to fly, the problems are multiplied by the understanding that chases the birds on the branch.”
