The regulation on the announcement that the lowest pension will be increased to 7 thousand 500 TL reached Parliament yesterday.

In article 11 of the additional law proposal to which we have arrived, it is established that “It aims to increase the amount of the minimum monthly payment, which is expected to be 5,500 TL based on the file, to 7,500 TL for our pensioners and beneficiaries who receive old-age/disability/death pensions”.

According to a social security expert who gave information to Sozcu.com.tr, this regulation is not an increase in the lowest pension, but only means a support from the Treasury of 2 thousand TL for retirees who receive a monthly salary of 5 thousand 500 TL.

Kocaeli University Department of Labor Economics and Industrial Relations Professor Prof. Dr. Aziz Çelik drew attention to the same situation and said: “The current root pensions of retirees have not changed. Pensions below 7,500 TL will be completed to 7,500 TL with the Treasury contribution for retirees. In the normal periods of increase (January and July), pensions will be increased not more than 7,500 TL, but on their own root pensions,” he said.

It is emphasized that this regulation also creates injustice for those who have paid higher premiums for years to receive higher pensions.

In the current situation, the expert, who estimates that almost half of the country’s retirees will receive a pension of TL 7,500, predicted that if this continues, a very significant part of retirees will be combined into the lowest pension within a few years.

THE MONEY OF WIDOWS AND ORPHANS IS LESS THAN 7,500 TL

On the other hand, even if the minimum pension increases to TL 7,500, the same will not happen to widows and orphans.

If a deceased pensioner has a pension of 10,000 TL, this pension is distributed 50% to his wife and 25% to his children. That is, 5,000 liras are given to the mother and 2,500 liras to the children.

Even if the deceased pensioner’s pension is increased from TL 5,500 to TL 7,500, his wife and children will be shared at the same rate of TL 7,500, that is, the widow and orphan will not receive net compensation. 7 thousand 500 TL.
