Minister Varank’s call to private banks for the earthquake zone

Industry and Technology Minister Varank made a press release after the show where he met industrialists at Antakya Organized Industrial Zone (OSB).

Noting that they prepared an Urgent Action Plan with Regional Orientation in coordination with all the institutions and managed this process, Varank explained that as a Ministry they carried out a feverish work regarding the current situation of the industry, its problems, proposed solutions and these issues. .

Stating that they are conducting damage assessments at OIZ, small industrial sites and individual production facilities, Varank said: “Partial damage occurred to the infrastructure of 7 of 34 OIZs in production in the region. They are currently under remodeling. There are about 5,600 installations with serious and medium damage, destroyed in the OIZ and small industrial estates. In addition, production continues in 33,000 facilities, some of which are partial. We anticipate that the cost of infrastructure, damage to buildings, damage to machinery and damage to stocks will exceed TL 170 billion,” he said.

Sharing the data on the industrial establishments in Hatay, Varank said, “There are 14 medium or partly heavy and 37 lightly damaged facilities in 4 active OIZs in Hatay. 39 factories have survived this disaster without damage. In addition, there are buildings with severe, moderate, and light damage at 12 active industrial sites. We anticipate the damage in Hatay, together with the industrial facilities outside the OIZ and the industrial site, to exceed 44 billion lira.” he used the phrase.

SUPPORT 30 THOUSAND LIRA PER CONTAINER

Varank stated that since the earthquake, teams from the Ministry have been dealing with the needs of citizens and industrialists here. Noting that the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change continues to work for citizens to return to their homes as soon as possible, Varank said that they also aim to reactivate the region by rebuilding the industry under the coordination of AFAD.

Stating that they will set up a bazaar consisting of temporary workplaces of 21 square meters each, Varank continued as follows:

“Our Development Agency took charge of this work. Our Development Agencies will mobilize a total of 1 billion lira for the reactivation of the region. We will declare suitable areas in the region as industrial areas. In the determined areas, modern workplaces and industrial facilities will be erected in a short time. We are planning to allocate these workplaces with very suitable opportunities, especially for our small industrial site merchants. If the physical conditions and the inspections of the land are suitable, we will provide serious support as a Ministry for the reconstruction of the destroyed or damaged industrial workplaces on the site. We immediately began to implement the KOSGEB Emergency Support Loan Program. We provide interest-free loan support up to TL 1.5 million, depending on the size of the company and the damage caused. We have taken the necessary measures for the partial or total elimination of KOSGEB’s accounts receivable in the disaster area”.

Minister Varank affirmed that one of the greatest demands of industrialists is to meet the needs of containers for the accommodation of their employees. Noting that they have decided to provide support of 30,000 lire per container to SMEs that will buy containers at this point, Varank stated that they will include the districts where there were strong washouts due to earthquakes in the Attraction Centers Program to encourage new investments in the region, and will allow them to benefit from the incentives of the VI region.

“WE WILL LIFT THIS REGION QUICKLY AGAIN”

Stating that they were together with industrialists and small merchants from the industrial site throughout the day, Varank said that they listened to their problems, received advice, consulted and took action to take necessary measures to meet their needs.

Varank said that one of the issues that received the most complaints today was that the private banks did not show the necessary sensitivity in the area of the earthquake, and said: “I want to make a call to our private banks through this platform; Comply with the decisions you have made with the Association of Banks. Do not cause difficulties for our merchants and industrialists here, especially the delay of credit. Because here the banks have a great influence, especially when it comes to meeting urgent needs. That our private banks comply with the decisions made by the Association of Banks and help our industrialists and businessmen here”. saying.

Emphasizing that they know the suffering of the people of the region and the needs here, Varank stated that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan received information from the ministers about the needs of the region and followed the processes himself. Varank said:

“Currently, our President has started his regional visits again. Today he revisits the entire earthquake zone in Kahramanmaraş. We share your pain, I want you to know that we are by your side and we will never leave you alone. We will heal our wounds as soon as possible by uniting hand in hand with the state and the nation. As we did before in Van, İzmir and Malatya, we will soon get this region back on its feet. Please, let no one have the slightest doubt about it. May my Lord never again allow us to experience such pain, and make our unity and solidarity permanent.” (AA)
