“Minister, DHMI, IGA openly lied”
Retired Captain Engin Aksüt, a CHP deputy candidate with 28 years of experience as a pilot and in European and Turkish civil aviation, began his electoral work quickly. More recently, Engin Aksüt, who served as Pilot Captain at THY, prepared an eye-catching graphic video in the framework of the goal of reopening Atatürk Airport, which is included in the Text of the Alliance Joint Agreement. Aksüt denied accusations that it cannot be used because it is in the same direction as the Istanbul airport, in his video titled “As long as you want it.”
Engin Aksüt said: “There is no such obligation in any international standard. There are clear examples in the airports of Europe and New York. He said that the simultaneous use of Atatürk airport and Istanbul airport in Istanbul airspace is possible with the head-and-vector technique. Transport Minister. DHMI and IGA are outright lying,” he said.
Engin Aksüt explained the details of the process related to Atatürk Airport to SÖZCÜ as follows:
“Although it is not official, the information that the Atatürk Airport (AHL) will be closed while the Istanbul Airport is being built began to be heard years ago. Due to the pandemic that broke out in early March 2020, a pandemic hospital was built by breaking and destroying AHL trackheads, known as 35L/35R, valued at billions of lira.
Today’s response from General Manager of State Airports (DHMI) and former IGA CEO Hüseyin Keskin to the question “Why is Atatürk Airport being closed?” showed that the scenario of the closure of Atatürk Airport was staged a long time ago.
“THEY CANNOT BE ANOTHER AIRPORT ON THE EUROPEAN SIDE ACCORDING TO THE SPECIFICATIONS”
Keskin said in a television interview in 2017: “According to the tender specifications, for our leasing process to begin, there should not be any other airports in operation on the European side of Istanbul.”
However, Keskin, who hides this fact, stated that as General Manager of DHMI, Atatürk Airport and Istanbul Airport are on the same axis, runways intersect, and runways 35L/35R of Atatürk Airport, which cannot be Use because the two airports are very close to each other, they were closed.
There is no article or basis to support Hüseyin Keskin’s technical argument in international aviation rules, and the Turkish nation has been lied to. As a reason for the destruction of the runways, DHMI used statements that lack technical infrastructure and are far from reality, such as “the two plazas are very close to each other and the Atatürk airport runways will block the IGA runways.”
“SAMSUNLU CONTINUED WITH THE SAME LIE”
Kadri Samsunlu, the new CEO of İGA, continued this (lie) and used statements that were not based on any technical arguments, such as that Atatürk airport runways block IGA runways.
The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure also used the same lie after the news that the 2 runways of the North-South axis of the Atatürk Airport would be completely torn up and turned into a national garden, in its statement, “Because the North-South runways of the Atatürk Airport are on the same axis as the North-South runways of Istanbul Airport (not even on the same axis actually), he used the expression that the runway has lost its identity as a consequence of not being able to use it due to rules aircraft.
It is not known what “aviation rules” the Ministry of Transport is talking about here!
We prepared a video composed of graphic animations with the title “As long as you want it”. We gave examples of takeoff, climb, and descent techniques called head/vector used at European and New York airports.
We have clearly demonstrated that the simultaneous use of Atatürk Airport and Istanbul Airport in the Istanbul airspace is possible with the head and vector technique.
The phases and procedures for ascent, descent and approach have been determined for an aircraft to land and take off safely at an airport. In these phases, the head/vector technique can be defined as air traffic controllers giving the aircraft the direction and altitude to turn so that the pilots can safely turn to a specific direction from an altitude of 300 meters. or less after takeoff from the starting point. tracks and climb to a predetermined altitude or descend and approach.
“WITHOUT TECHNICAL OBSTACLES TO OPENING”
Drawing attention to the unplanned construction that will impede safe operation around Atatürk Airport, Aksüt said that updating Istanbul airspace obstacle plans, making changes to DHMI procedures in line with international standards, uniting 3 airports in Istanbul airspace so that 3 airports (Atatürk, İGA and Sabiha Gökçen) can operate simultaneously, he stated that it should be redesigned in a way that allows it to operate and that refresher training should be provided to air traffic controllers covering these innovations and regulations.
In the Nation Alliance Joint Agreement announced on January 31, 2023, it was indicated that Atatürk Airport would be reopened to passenger traffic. As a result, there are no technical obstacles to the use of Atatürk Airport. “
