The Economic Congress of the II Century ends
After the final session entitled “Invitation to Multiplicity and Unity” held at the Ahmed Adnan Saygun Art Center, the final declaration was put to the vote of the delegates, in which the results of all the works were collected. At the end of the vote, a total of 61 principles and 211 resolutions were unanimously accepted.
Delivering a closing speech, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer said that they ran a long 8-month marathon and workers, farmers, industrialists, merchants and artisans met many times, like in the congress 100 years ago. years.
Stating that 100 years ago, under extraordinarily difficult conditions, at the congress held in Izmir to determine the state’s economic policies to be established, economic policies were determined with great hope, and said:
“Today we come together to build the Turkey of the future. Just like 100 years ago, 180 representatives of civil society, foundations and associations from all over Turkey met with more than 500 delegates. More than 200 academics conceptualized the decisions of our workers, farmers, industrialists, merchants and artisans within the framework of their scientific disciplines at 4 separate tables. The High Advisory Council reviewed the work. Today, after all these studies, we submit these decisions to the votes of the delegates one by one”.
Stating that the work allows for renewed hope and self-confidence about the future of the country, Soyer said: “It is possible to build a completely new Turkey where we will live together in peace, tranquility and health, just as our ancestors did. . Very important decisions have been made, but our method is as important as these. Democracy was built in the real sense. Workers, farmers, industrialists, merchants and artisans, all referred to as different interest groups, established a common vision of the future. We will follow these decisions.” he said.
ABOUT THE CONGRESS
Within the framework of the congress, which started last August, stakeholder meetings of farmer, worker and industrial-trader-trader groups were held, and more than 200 experts contributed to the decisions made at the stakeholder meetings. Those discussed at stakeholder and expert meetings were evaluated at 3 different senior advisory board meetings. Workshops and forums were also held.
At the main congress, which began on March 15, ten different thematic forums and numerous artistic performances were held. Researchers, academics, representatives of non-governmental organizations, political party leaders, and bureaucrats participated in the Second Century Economic Congress. The new economic policy was outlined at the congress.
