Eurozone industrial production increased in January

The European Statistical Office (Eurostat) announced seasonally adjusted industrial production data for the European Union (EU) and the Eurozone for January.

Consequently, industrial production in the 19-member euro zone rose 0.7 percent in January compared to December and 0.9 percent compared to January 2022.

Industrial production in the EU rose 0.3 percent in January compared to the previous month and 1 percent compared to the same period a year earlier.

HIGHEST INCREASE IN IRELAND

In January, the highest monthly increase in industrial production among EU countries was recorded in Ireland at 9.3 percent, Sweden at 5 percent and Romania at 2 percent.

The largest decrease was observed in Denmark with 7.1%, Hungary with 5% and the Netherlands with 4.3%.

On an annual basis, industrial production increased the most in Ireland with 19.5 percent, in Denmark with 14.2 percent, in Malta with 12.4 percent, while it increased by 12 percent in Lithuania, by 9.8 percent in Latvia and Slovakia decreased by 8.6 percent. (AA)
