Sharp drop in home sales

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) announced the home sales statistics for February 2023.

Accordingly, home sales in Turkey decreased by 18 percent in February compared to the same month of the previous year and became 80 thousand 31.

Istanbul had the highest share of home sales with 14,980 home sales and 18.7 percent.

According to the number of sales, Istanbul is followed by Ankara with 8,235 houses sold and a 10.3 percent share, and Izmir with the sales of 5,031 houses and a 6.3 percent share.

The provinces with the fewest number of houses sold were Hakkari with 16 houses, Ardahan with 30 houses and Tunceli with 47 houses, respectively.

The purchase and sale of homes in the January-February period decreased 4.4 percent compared to the same period of the previous year and amounted to 177 thousand 739.

12.7 PERCENT DECREASE IN CREDIT SALES

Sales of foreclosed homes in Turkey decreased 12.7 percent in February compared to the same month a year earlier and became 17,357.

The share of mortgage sales in total home sales was 21.7 percent. The purchase and sale of mortgaged homes in the January-February period, on the other hand, decreased 11.8 percent compared to the same period of the previous year and stood at 33,560.

5 thousand 93 of the mortgage sales of February; 9,353 of the mortgaged sales in the January-February period were first-hand sales.

Other home sales in Turkey decreased by 19.3 percent in February compared to the same month a year earlier and became 62,674. The share of other sales in total home sales was 78.3 percent. . Other home sales in the January-February period, for their part, decreased 2.5 percent compared to the same period of the previous year and stood at 144,179.

SALES TO FOREIGNERS DECREASES 27 PERCENT

The sale of homes to foreigners decreased 27 percent in February compared to the same month of the previous year and reached 3,350.

In February, the share of home sales to foreigners in total home sales was 4.2 percent.

In the January-February period, the sale of homes to foreigners decreased 14.4 percent compared to the same period of the previous year and went to 7,511.

BEST SELLERS IN ANTALYA, THE RUSSIAN COMES TOGETHER

Antalya ranked first in house sales to foreigners with 1,261 house sales. Antalya was followed by Istanbul with 1,133 house sales and Mersin with 225 house sales, respectively.

In February, citizens of the Russian Federation bought 1,183 houses from Turkey.

Citizens of the Russian Federation were followed by Iran with 446 residences, Iraq with 173 residences, and Ukraine with 142 residences, respectively.
