“Give entrepreneurs more time to pay off their corona debt” Related articles

A large number of entrepreneurs are still struggling with large corona debt. However, the Cabinet wants this to be respected from now on. This could lead to a wave of bankruptcies. MKB-Nederland president Jacco Vonhof is concerned. “We saw it coming.”

More than 100,000 business owners are currently struggling with payment arrears. According to Vonhof, the pain is great and many of them suffer from inflation and energy prices. In addition, rents have also increased. “By taking tough action now, tens of thousands of entrepreneurs could go bankrupt.”

Margins under pressure

This is not the first time that longer payment terms have been established. “We warned about this.” Yet this was not heard in The Hague. The time for procrastination is now over. “Many entrepreneurs’ margins are under significant pressure, which makes it very difficult to pay back.”

Entrepreneurial risk

Fortunately, entrepreneurs are not completely left to their own devices. According to Vonhof, individual agreements can always be concluded with the tax authorities. “Explaining your personal situation always helps.” According to him, the crown is therefore not part of the entrepreneurial risk. “Society’s security was at stake, and as an entrepreneur it’s hard to arm yourself against that.”
