Meeting with Erdoğan, Ergün Atalay: Instructed by the Minister of Labor
AKP President and Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan received TÜRK-İŞ Chairman Ergün Atalay. The reception at the AKP headquarters was closed to the press. During the meeting, Atalay was accompanied by TÜRK-İŞ General Secretary Pevrul Kavlak.
“INSTRUCTIONS TO THE MINISTRY OF LABOR”
Ergün Atalay, who made a statement after leaving the party headquarters after the acceptance, said that the central issue of their meeting was the 2023 collective agreement, which concerns 700,000 public workers.
Stating that they will go to meet with Vedat Bilgin, Minister of Labor and Social Security, Atalay said: “We want the public contracts of 700,000 workers to be terminated as soon as possible before the elections. This is the demand of the society, this is the demand of the TÜRK-İŞ administration”.
MINIMUM WAGE ISSUES AND UNCONTESTED ELECTIONS
Noting that President Erdoğan told Minister Bilgin to “discuss this issue”, Atalay said: “He gave instructions to the Labor Minister because his approach was good, we are going there.”
Atalay, to a question, pointed out that an issue related to the elections was not on the agenda during the meeting. “Has anything come up about the minimum wage?” Atalay said: “We don’t talk about him. We estimate that the agenda, temporary worker, will be out this week. There are public contracts. There is also the expectation of the subcontractor’s staff, we are talking about them”.
