Auxiliary service personnel in the public want to move into the general service class

Memur-Sen Vice President Hacı Bayram Tonbul stated that staff with secondary and higher education level in the ‘auxiliary services’ class should be transferred to the ‘general services’ class.

Auxiliary service staff working in different provinces and institutions in Turkey started expressing their demand for transition to general services on different platforms, mainly on social media.

Auxiliary service staff who have graduated from high school, college, and bachelor’s degree and want to do public sector jobs that require their diplomas want to move into the general service class.

EXPLANATION OF MEMUR-SEN

Memur-Sen Vice President Hacı Bayram Tonbul stated that there are approximately 140 thousand people in the auxiliary services class in the public sector.

When specifying that these personnel worked as employees, cleaners, nurses and technicians in various institutions, Tonbul pointed out that some of them had a secondary or higher education level.

THERE ARE UNIVERSITY GRADUATES AND CLEANERS

Tonbul explained that these personnel could not move to the appropriate positions for their diplomas because the promotion exams were not opened to them. Noting that there are university graduates and cleaning jobs in the public sector, Tonbul said:

“Public employees must have positions appropriate to their titles. Those who have a secondary education level or higher among the 140,000 employees in the auxiliary services class of the public sector must be transferred to the general services class only once. Satisfying this demand, which we always express at the collective bargaining table, will increase both the motivation of the staff and the quality of service to the public”. (AA)
