Investor confidence in the Eurozone fell in March
The euro zone investor confidence index fell below expectations for the first time since October 2022 in March
Sentix, which conducts market research and is based in Frankfurt, announced data from the general euro area investor confidence index for March.
Consequently, the general index of investor confidence in the euro area, which was minus 8 points in February, decreased 3.1 points to minus 11.1 this month. The expectation for the index, which fell for the first time since October 2022, was for the recovery to continue and rise to minus 6.3.
The Expectations Index, which measures investor expectations for the next 6 months, decreased from minus 6 points to minus 13 points.
The Present Situation Index also rose from minus 10 to minus 9.3, its highest level since June 2022.
RESTRICTION CONCERNS MAY RISE
Sentix CEO Manfred Huebner, in his assessment on the matter, said: “Optimism about the downturn in the economy may turn to concerns of stagnation in the economy in a short time if negative economic expectations are met.”
Stating that it should not be forgotten that the current economic environment is holding back monetary policy by central banks, Huebner said: “Money supply expansion remains weak and is likely to create a serious burden on the economy later in the year. with the increase in interest rates.” He made his assessment.
The investor confidence survey was conducted from March 2 to 4 with the participation of 1,309 investors.
On the other hand, the Sentix investor confidence index of Germany, the largest economy in the euro zone, fell 2.8 points to minus 9.6 points in March. Notably, after the index had been going up for 4 straight months, it went down. In Germany, the Present Situation Index increased from minus 8.8 to minus 7.5. (AA)
