EYT queue in front of SSI branches

Following the publication of the regulation on the retirement age (EYT) in the Official Gazette, there was a dense crowd in front of the buildings of the Social Security Institution (SGK). Citizens flocked to branches due to e-government lockdown.

After the publication in the Official Gazette of the Social Security and General Health Insurance Law, which includes the regulations related to the EYT, and the Modifying Law of Decree Law No. 375, citizens began to go to the buildings of the SGK in the neighborhoods from the early hours of the morning.

Citizens who want to exercise their right to retirement by taking advantage of the EYT regulation formed a long queue in front of SGK buildings all over Turkey. In addition to cities such as Kayseri, Balıkesir, Eskişehir and Gaziantep, the cameras reflected the density in front of the Şişli, Ataşehir, Esenyurt and Fatih Unkapanı SGK branches in Istanbul.

‘ELECTRONIC GOVERNMENT DID NOT WORK’

Eyüp Kömürlü, waiting in line at the SGK branch in Fatih, Istanbul, said: “I haven’t been able to log into e-government since 07:00 in the morning. There is nothing we can do, we will have to wait. I will write and apply. I will have to wait, if not today, then tomorrow, if not tomorrow, the day after, ”he said.

Isa Yildiz said: “I came to apply for retirement. We cannot make transactions from the electronic administration, it gives an error. I’ve been waiting in line since 7:00 in the morning. We retire after 25 years,” he said.

Musa Ermiş said: “I received my retirement letter. I didn’t wait long in line. I got a letter to retire, I’ll take it to work. We will hand over our documents for them to be released,” he said.

Serpil Çay, 47, who came to the Konak Social Security Center, said she had been waiting for the law for a long time and was very excited.

‘THEY WILL WORK EVEN WHEN THEY RETIRE’

Stating that he is insured at his previous workplaces and still cleaning house as a day laborer, Çay said, “My first job will be to take out a loan. I have 2 children to marry. I’m going to tie them, like he didn’t retire, that money never came to me. I work without insurance, banks do not give loans. Hospitals are in trouble. When I retire as soon as possible, I will receive a small amount of money each month without working.”

Private security guard Ahmet Karaca, 51, stated that he started working in 1991 and had been waiting for retirement for 6-7 years and said he was happy with the enactment of the law.

Noting that he will decide whether to work according to the pension to be paid, Karaca said: “Since EYT came on the agenda, we have been closely following EYT’s statements on the Internet and on television. Psychologically, our brain was also locked. I feel broken. I have my own projects,” he said.

EYT APPLICATIONS IN THE TENT

Those who want to retire in front of the Social Security Institution in Adana, where the earthquake centered in Kahramanmaraş caused destruction, began to make their first applications at the tent set up in the SGK garden.

Citizens who want to start their retirement procedures in Adana formed a queue in front of the Provincial Directorate of the Adana Social Security Institution since morning hours. The citizens began to make their first requests to retire in the tent. Ali Delikanlı, who lined up to retire, said, “If we don’t have any debt, we fill out the form directly from here. I didn’t wait long in line, but we are waiting for my wife’s loan process,” he said.

Gülten Mutlu, who applied for retirement, said: “I didn’t wait in line, I just came, now I’m filling out the form right away. I started my insurance career in the 1990s when I was very young. I have been waiting for retirement for a long time. It would have been better if it had been 5 thousand days, but it was a little more premium. So let’s borrow some money.
