Record increase in fruit prices

Although the changes in the annual price indices were at a record level for fruits, they were reflected as the highest increase since last year for tomatoes and vegetables.

CHANGES IN THE PRICES OF TOMATOES, VEGETABLES AND FRUITS

In February, tomato prices rose 109.87 percent year-on-year. The tomato quantity index decreased by 26.13 percent. While the annual variation in the prices of vegetables was 87.18 percent, the annual quantity index for vegetables decreased by 8.93 percent.

The annual change in fruit prices was at a record level of 120.72 percent. The annual decrease in the amount of fruit processing was 11.92 percent.

Regarding the monthly data, tomato prices increased by 43.43 percent and the tomato quantity index decreased by 36.63 percent. Vegetable prices increased 39.37 percent, the vegetable quantity index decreased 24.56 percent. Fruit prices increased 9.70 percent, the fruit quantity index decreased 2.70 percent.
