Additional $2.5 billion World Bank grant for Ukraine

In the statement issued by the bank, it was indicated that with said $2.5 billion grant, it will provide direct support to the Ukrainian budget as part of the World Bank project to maintain basic services and government functions.

In the statement, it was noted that the funds provided by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) will be transferred to the Ukrainian government after the World Bank verifies the eligible expenditures.

World Bank Group President David Malpass said in his statement on the subject that the world continues to witness the terrible destruction inflicted on Ukraine and its people, one year after Russia’s war against Ukraine.

Malpass noted that since the start of the war, the World Bank has provided a total of $20.6 billion to support Ukraine, of which $18.5 billion has been paid out, reaching more than 12 million Ukrainians. .

Emphasizing that they will continue to support the Ukrainian people through emergency repair projects, Malpass stated that they will continue to coordinate with the government for recovery and reconstruction efforts. (AA)
