Estonia: Russian LNG must be banned from entering the EU
Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Reins said that energy resources are at the heart of the Russian economy and the current cap on the price of Russian oil is beneficial.
Reinsalu pointed out that the markets are avoiding Russian oil with the measures taken, and recalled that positive results have been seen in the reduction in the price of Russian oil, and that the ceiling price applied to Russian oil will be reviewed in March.
reinsalu said:
“We know that Russia exports billions of dollars of LNG and therefore we are very interested in that. We submitted a proposal to the European Commission to consider a ban on Russian LNG entering the EU territory. We can’t do anything for global markets, but we want it for the EU. We also believe that a price cap should apply to Russian LNG.”
Minister Reinsalu emphasized that support for Kiev must continue in the Russia-Ukraine war, and that the supply of arms and ammunition is especially important, saying that approximately 400 million euros of support has been provided to Ukraine.
CALL TO NATO
Reinsalu said: “We allocate 1 percent of our gross domestic product (GDP) to military support for Ukraine. This is also my call to all NATO countries. This means hundreds of billions of euros that will really be a game changer, and these sums will really give Ukraine a clear advantage.”
Emphasizing that they are not afraid of Russia, Reinsalu said: “We are not afraid, because we are already facing hybrid attacks from Russia. So this is a fact. Tactically, do we expect an attack by Russian military forces any time soon? My answer is negative. This assessment is primarily based on our being a member of NATO and the presence of NATO allied forces in our region.” he used his statements.
Urmas Reinsalu, who said that Russia especially carried out cyber attacks on Estonia, noted that they have successfully resisted these attacks so far. Reinsalu added that the EU should quickly impose sanctions on oligarchs who continue to defend Russia. (AA)
