One in three entrepreneurs find the business climate in the Netherlands unattractive Related articles

Almost 30 percent of entrepreneurs in the Netherlands no longer find our country attractive to make investments due to government policy.

About 60% of companies believe that the business climate has deteriorated over the past five years. This was written by the employers’ associations VNO-NCW and MKB-Nederland in a letter to the House of Representatives.

To be attractive for investment, “the predictability of government policy needs to be improved, because those who invest want to know where they stand,” according to the organizations. In doing so, employers’ organizations report, among other things, the “accumulation of rules” encountered by entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurs also note that the return on investment in the Netherlands is lower than elsewhere in Europe and the United States.

More clean energy infrastructure

Among other things, the organizations believe that the new clean energy infrastructure needs to be created at an accelerated pace. This concerns, for example, the new networks for hydrogen, CO2 and electricity. “Other countries, such as the United States and Germany, are not standing still in meeting these preconditions and thus invite companies to invest,” according to VNO-NCW.

There will be a parliamentary debate on the economic climate in the Netherlands on Thursday.
