Profit for Heineken, beer even more expensive in 2023 Related articles

Last year, Heineken had higher revenues because it was able to sell larger quantities of beer and also charged higher prices. And so adjusted profit has also increased.

The brewer sold around 257 million hectoliters of the drink in 2022, just under 7% more than the previous year. However, Heineken achieved a higher turnover per hectolitre. This was in part due to price increases with which the company compensated for rising costs for packaging, wages, and ingredients such as hops and grain. (Unsplash / Stella de Smit)

The brewer sold around 257 million hectoliters of the drink in 2022, almost 7% more than the previous year. However, Heineken achieved a higher turnover per hectolitre. This was in part due to price increases with which the company compensated for rising costs for packaging, wages, and ingredients such as hops and grain. Customers have also increasingly bought premium brands, such as the Heineken brand.

Most expensive beer in 2023

Revenue was more than €34.6 billion, adjusted net profit increased by almost 31% to €2.8 billion. For 2023, the brewer expects cost increases of between 16 and 19 percent for things like ingredients and energy. Heineken wants to pass on these higher costs to the customer. So beer is getting more expensive.

Heineken wrote off €88m on its Russian assets, which are still up for sale. When the brewer announced in March last year that it was leaving Russia, the company expected it would have to write off 400 million euros for this part.
