Seyit Torun: This work is betraying the producer
Seyit Torun, CHP Vice President for Local Governments and Army MP, said in his written statement:
THE DARK HANDS ACTIVATED
“Despite all our warnings, the political power had set the base price for hazelnuts between 51-53 and victimized the producers. The Turkish Grain Board (TMO) had also bought hazelnuts at these prices. Since August 2022, the hazelnut price has risen on the free market and has now reached 63 lira. But at that moment, the dark hands that didn’t want the producer to win came into play again.”
HAZELNUTS PRICES DROPPED 7-8 LIRA
“To lower the price of hazelnuts, the button in the hand of TMO, a state institution, was pressed. Today TMO started selling hazelnuts on the market. Currently, hazelnuts reach 63 lire on the free market, while TMO sales are determined at 58 and 61 TL. Immediately afterwards, the prices of hazelnuts on the free market fell by between 7 and 8 lira.”
BEHAVIOR WITH THE MANUFACTURER
“Everyone should know this: This sale is for a foreign company that monopolizes the hazelnut market, to pick up cheap products from the market, to manipulate prices. I say it clearly: this work is to betray the producer. This job involves subcontracting to a foreign company with the help of a government agency. Those who intervene in this operation lower the price of the hazelnut, steal the sweat of the producer. The people of Ordu and the people of the Black Sea will not forgive those who take it out of the producer’s pocket and fill the safe of a foreign company.”
BACK FROM THIS EVIL
“It is our call to TMO or the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry: reverse this mistake as soon as possible. Stop sales. If you are going to sell, increase the price to the 70 lire band. Protect the right of the manufacturer, not that of the foreign company”.
