Based on the statement made by KEPCO yesterday, South Korea’s Yonhap news agency reported that Turkey made a request to KEPCO in December to submit a proposal for the construction of a new nuclear power plant.

It was said on the news that KEPCO submitted a preliminary offer and full-scale negotiations with Turkey had begun.

According to the company’s statement, KEPCO Chairman Cheong Seung-Il met on Monday with Turkey’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Fatih Dönmez and presented the proposal for the construction of four reactors in the northern part. in the country, capable of providing 1,400 megawatts of electricity. .

The two sides were in talks about the project, which is estimated to be worth around 40 trillion won ($32.55 billion). The Turkish government asked KEPCO to submit a proposal in December last year.

The company said the proposal includes information about Korea’s plan on how to execute the project and its capabilities to build a nuclear power plant. KEPCO said in a statement: “The two parties began serious discussions on the project. A feasibility test will be carried out to find the most appropriate way to promote the project”.
