The European Central Bank will stress test 99 banks

According to the ECB statement, the financial structure of 99 banks, 57 of which are in the euro zone, will be discussed in the 2023 stress test.

The test, which is held every two years, will be organized in collaboration with the national authorities. The test results will shed light on the impact of adverse shocks on the resilience of banks in challenging macroeconomic conditions.

In the statement made by the European Banking Authority (EBA), it was indicated that it has started a stress test to verify how banks can cope with high inflation and long-standing interest rates.

In the statement, it was noted that the EBA’s theoretical shock test will be applied to 70 EU banks, which will correspond to 75 percent of total banking assets in the EU.

The EBA had stress tested 50 banks in 2021.

The ECB intends to publish the results of the tests at the end of July. (AA)
