Letter of adaptation of retirees to Erdogan
In his letter to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Turkish Pensioners Association (TÜED) President Kazım Ergün stated that the change in pension calculation methods in certain periods causes inequality in the amount of pensions among retired workers and the retirees of Bağ-Kur on different dates, and used the following expressions:
“Pay the same amount of premiums in the same period of your working life and retire at the same age; However, since the retirement dates are different from each other, the issue of equalizing pensions that are not equal due to changes in monthly calculation methods, that is, the issue of adjustment still awaits a solution.
With the input of your staff, our retirees adjusted before 2000 and the injustice between them was corrected with your thanks. For that, as our retirement community, we express our gratitude to them.
At the point reached today, the same is true for our retirees after 2000. As our Constitutional Court has said, the solution can only be achieved through an adjustment law to be enacted by parliament.
‘A COMMON SYSTEM SHOULD BE ADOPTED’
In his letter, Ergün also included technical information about the three periods that are taken into account in calculating pensions, and made the following demands:
“The implementation of two mixed systems before Law No. 5510 did not generate great inequality in the calculation of pensions, and a system was implemented that increased the pension as the working day lengthened. The system introduced by Law No. 5510 has become an application that reduces the pension as the working day lengthens.
A common system for updating income and pension rates should be adopted to change this practice and ensure equality in pensions for those in the same situation. This proposal should also be seen as an adaptation of the 2000s.
Differences in pensions must be determined by determining the average premium income and the same number of premium payment days. In this sense, pensions must be recalculated according to equal rules.
