They will charge the state 442 billion for 5.5 billion lira.

Medium Although the cost of new housing for the high-income group was announced as very low, the extraordinary increase in the Treasury’s borrowing limits raised concerns that the government would borrow the state extraordinarily to meet new election promises. According to the calculations of the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, if 50,000 houses are sold after the approval of the law, the Treasury will provide 2,750 million lira this year to support the interests of citizens. If the number of houses increases to 100 thousand, the amount of support to be assumed by the state will be 5.5 billion lira.

RESERVATION ALLOWANCE

Although the support will increase a little more in the following years, the total amount of the state’s contribution to 50 thousand houses at the end of 3 years will be 18.22 billion TL. Even if the sale of 100,000 houses is carried out this year, the urgent resource that the Treasury will need will be 5.5 billion liras. Normally, this resource can be transferred to the Treasury from the budget reserve allocations without the need for additional borrowing. However, the fact that the government was allowed to borrow up to 442 billion lira for only 5.5 billion lira of resource needs, for housing support reasons, led to comments that all election expenditures and the new promises were destined to be fulfilled with these loans. .

DANGEROUS SOURCE

In the debates on the bill in Parliament, it was stated that this huge borrowing would not be done to support housing, but to finance electoral promises. While opposition MPs claimed that Parliament has been a tool for AKP election investments in the recent period, CHP’s Süleyman Girgin said: “It is very inconvenient to transfer a huge amount of 442 billion lira before the elections to a government that will hand over its powers maybe 4-5 months later.”

Mhp also found the wrong decision

The granting of borrowing authority also raised question marks at the MHP. MHP MP Mustafa Kalaycı stated that the article may have been poorly written, saying, “As a practical solution, I would like to authorize the issuance of special debt securities related to housing finance. Let’s remove the other provisions, and the allegations of unconstitutionality would be removed,” he said. Kalaycı said that he has things in mind about the cost and since the repayment of the loan will start from the age of 8, there will be no expenditure for the public budget.
