Another tech giant has joined the layoff frenzy

Spotify also joins the layoff frenzy

Spotify Technology, which plans to lay off some of its employees this week to cut costs, joined tech companies such as Alphabet, Amazon.com and Microsoft, which have recently laid off thousands of people under this plan.

The Bloomberg story, based on some sources, did not specify how many people will be laid off. Spotify has not yet responded to questions from Reuters.

WAVE OF LAUNCHES AT TECH GIANTS

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy said in a statement on January 5 that the layoffs would top 18,000 as part of the previously announced downsizing.

Microsoft announced on January 19 that it would lay off 10,000 people. The CEO of Google’s parent company Alphabet also announced that Alphabet would lay off 12,000 people in a note he sent to his employees on January 20.

Other tech companies, like Facebook’s parent company Meta and Twitter, also laid off thousands of people last year. (Reuters)
