The weight of oily fish rose to 400 lira in Çanakkale
After the ban on fishing was lifted from September 1, the fishermen went to sea.
With the start of the season, there was an abundance of bonito. The density of the bonito, which lasted about 3 months, gave way to the zinekopa. Recently, the abundance of anchovies on the counters has attracted attention.
Oily fish, on the other hand, has not yet reached the desired abundance. The weight of blue fish, which is rarely seen on the counters, reached up to 400 TL.
CITIZENS LOOK FOR QUANTITY BECAUSE IT IS CHEAP
Kemal Dinçer, who has been fishing in Çanakkale for 40 years, said: “Çinekop has been running for 2 months. Lately there has been an abundance of anchovies. The weight of the anchovy varies between 50 lire and 70 lire, depending on its size. Bluefish have been very few this year. More oily fish instead of oily fish. Blue fish are really rare this year. Last year we sold oily fish for up to 85 lire, but this year there were no oily fish, ”he said.
Noting that citizens prefer to consume anchovies because the price is cheap, Dinçer said, “We expect fish with scales if the trolls work in the next period. Fish like horse mackerel, haddock, tabby. It will be until the hunting ban begins, ”he said.
HIT SLUD PRICES RISE
Cemal Kartal, one of the fishermen, said: “The storm that has been going on for 2 days has affected the fish prices a bit, but this does not prevent the fish from arriving. Fishermen continue to work in the Sea of Marmara in the southwestern climate, but there has been a slight increase in prices because the fish comes from only one region.”
Kartal stated that oily fish is rare, saying, “This year, oily fish is rare. That’s why the price is high. The anchovy abundance will last a long time. It comes in two anchovy sizes. Our anchovies come from the Black Sea and Marmara. All of them are well priced. We sell it at 50 lire per kilo. The large anchovy sells for 70 lire per kilo”, he said.
