Industrialists rebelled against car insurance
By affirming that high costs, especially energy, negatively affect production processes, industrialists emphasize that vehicle insurance also increases these costs. Industrialists, who make intensive use of commercial vehicles, have to reflect their insurance costs and higher logistics costs in their products.
Bülent Aymen, vice president of the Mediterranean Association of Furniture, Paper and Forest Products Exporters (AKAMİB), said that these rising costs have put a lot of pressure on industrialists and exporters, especially in the last year. Aymen said: “We are talking about the increase in raw materials and energy items, but many items that are not being talked about have doubled the burden on companies. Insurance costs for trucks and vans increased 3 times. We are waiting for a regulation in this regard, ”he said.

LOST ADVANTAGE
Stating that the foreign trade deficit has increased and competitiveness has been lost due to rising energy costs, Aymen said, “Unfortunately, we lost the logistics cost advantage we had against rival countries, especially China. The freight price is almost equal to the product in the container,” he said.
Speaking about the minimum wage, Aymen said: “It was an increase that needed to be done and the support of the 400 lira bonus was an important advance, but not only the employee but also the employer are crushed by inflation.
REGIONAL MINIMUM WAGE
In the next period, the regional minimum wage should also be discussed, of course, there is a shortage of qualified personnel. For example, our region is the region where the steel industry is strongest, but we have difficulties to find even welding personnel”.

Industrial forestry solution to the raw material problem
Saying that industrial forests should be established like in Chile and Colombia to solve the shortage of raw material in the furniture industry, AKAMİB President Onur Kılıçer said, “We are in consultation with the Ministry, we are preparing a detailed report.” . Explaining that the wood that will come out of forest improvement in Turkey will meet the needs of the sector for 2 years, Kılıçer said, “If forest roads are developed, which also have an important role in fire fighting, it will be easier to enter the forest.” forest to cut down old trees, our forests will be younger and the wood needs of the sector will be covered”.
